Set Up Feed Delivery
To receive ADT Notifications, you must configure and validate an HL7 feed delivery endpoint. Health Gorilla delivers notifications as HL7 ADT messages to the endpoint you provide.
Your HL7 feed delivery endpoint must meet transport and processing requirements, and you must complete delivery validation before production delivery begins.
Endpoint Requirements
Your HL7 feed delivery endpoint must:
- Support inbound HL7 v2.x messages over a secure transport channel
- Accept HL7 ADT message types supported by Health Gorilla (see ADT Notifications > Supported HL7 Message Types)
- Provide timely acknowledgment (ACK) responses to confirm delivery
- Support message deduplication and retry handling as required by your workflow
Transport Options
Health Gorilla supports the following transport options for HL7 feed delivery:
- VPN-based TCP connection (preferred for high-volume feeds)
- Mutual TLS (mTLS) over HTTPS
The transport option is configured during initial setup with Health Gorilla Support.
To set up HL7 feed delivery
- Provision a secure HL7 feed delivery endpoint that meets the requirements listed above.
- Coordinate with Health Gorilla Support to establish the transport connection (VPN or mTLS).
- Provide connection details and endpoint specifications to Health Gorilla Support.
- Confirm that your endpoint is prepared to receive HL7 ADT messages and return ACK responses.
- Work with Health Gorilla Support to send and receive test messages.
- Confirm that test messages are received and acknowledged successfully.
- Complete validation and obtain approval from Health Gorilla Support for production delivery.
Ongoing Monitoring
To ensure consistent processing of ADT Notifications, you must actively monitor the HL7 feed delivery endpoint as follows.
- Monitor inbound message volume and delivery patterns.
- Monitor acknowledgment rates and error responses.
- Investigate and resolve delivery failures in coordination with Health Gorilla Support as needed.
- Maintain endpoint availability and transport security over time.
