ADT vs Clinical Alerts

ADT Notifications and Patient360 Clinical Alerts both notify you when enrolled patients experience significant care events. Each type of alert provides different value and is based on a different data source.

Health Gorilla recommends using ADT Notifications and Clinical Alerts together to maximize visibility into encounter activity across hospitals and national networks.

Combining the Alerts

By combining ADT Notifications and Clinical Alerts, you gain more complete visibility into and broader coverage of patient encounter activity. For example, you can:

  • Use ADT Notifications to receive direct alerts from hospitals with HL7 ADT feeds.
  • Use Clinical Alerts to detect encounters from hospitals and providers that participate in national networks but may not send HL7 ADT feeds.

Considerations

When using both alert types, it is important to:

  • Manage enrollment lists consistently across both solutions to ensure aligned alert coverage.
  • Deduplicate encounter events across Clinical Alerts and ADT Notifications where possible.
  • Understand that not all hospitals send HL7 ADT feeds, and not all document exchanges generate an HL7 ADT message. Using both solutions together provides the best encounter visibility.
